Stable dynamics and excitations of single- and double-hump solitons in the Kerr nonlinear media with PT-symmetric HHG potentials

AbstractIn this paper, the self-focusing nonlinear Schrodinger (NLS) equation with PT-symmetric harmonic-hyperbolic-Gaussian function potentials is investigated, and some intriguing results are presented. From the threshold curves of the PT-symmetry breaking resulting from the spontaneous breaking of the phases, we find that the real and imaginary parts of the spectra of the corresponding PT-invariant Hamiltonian differ from the known findings. Both analytical and numerical (via Newton iteration method) single and double-hump solitons are found for the focusing NLS equation with PT-symmetric HHG function potentials. Furthermore, we use Fourier pseudo-spectral method to explore the stable dynamics of solitons and the interplays between nonlinear modes and exotic solitons in the PT-symmetric potentials to further verify the stability of optical solitons with two different profiles. Finally, the adiabatic excitations of the nonlinear modes are performed such that the soliton stable excitations are found. These interesting results will lay the foundation for the further investigations of PT-symmetric linear and nonlinear physical models in nonlinear optics, Bose-Einstein condensates, and other relevant physical fields.
