On the accuracy of nonconforming quadrilateral Q(1) element approximation for the Navier-Stokes problem

摘要This paper deals with the nonconforming quadrilateral Q(1) element approximation of the Navier Stokes equation, by using the so-called velocity-pressure mixed formulation. A convergence condition is presented for the nonconforming Stokes element. It is shown that the condition is not only sufficient for the convergence, but also, in some sense, is necessary. The quasi-optimal maximum norm error estimates of the velocity and its rst derivatives and of the pressure are derived for the nonconforming quadrilateral Q(1) element for the stationary Navier Stokes problem. The analysis is based on the weighted inf-sup condition and the technique of weighted Sobolev norm.
