AbstractIn this paper, with the help of symbolic computation, the projective Riccati equations method is extended to find some new exact solutions of the nonlinear Schrodinger model with varying dispersion, nonlinearity, and gain or absorption. As a result, four families of Soliton-like solutions in these models are obtained. (C) 2003 Elsevier Ltd. All rights reserved.
